The Railway Protection Force apprehended three transgenders for extorting money from a passenger.
According to the South Central Railway, three transgenders entered into a coach of Train No. 12295 Bangalore-Patna Sangamitra Express between Vijayawada and Warangal on 14th April in the general compartment at about 12:45am, and started demanding money from a passenger. He gave them Rs. 100, but they were not satisfied, and forcibly seized an amount of Rs. 5,000 available with him.
Upon seeing this, some co-passengers pulled the alarm chain. The RPF staff on duty immediately responded and apprehended one of the culprits and handed the person over to the Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Warangal.
The Government Railway Police, Warangal, along with the Crime Prevention & Detection team of the RPF, rushed to the train and apprehended the remaining two transgenders, who were also troubling other passengers, and registered a case and took up for further investigation.
The investigation revealed that a complaint had already been lodged by a passenger at the Beitul railway station, and the GRP, Amla, registered a case for an extortion of Rs. 27,000 by the same trio.
