The TPCC today invited applications from all aspirants of the Huzurabad Assembly seat ticket ahead of the upcoming by-election in the constituency and asked the aspirants to submit applications to the Congress high command to secure the ticket.
Party working president Mahesh Kumar Goud said that they would receive applications from 10:00 am till 5:00 pm everyday till September 5. He added that the aspirants would have to submit their applications along with a DD for an amount of Rs 5,000.
Further, Goud stated that a party committee would interview each aspirant on September 6 to shortlist the most suitable candidate for the by-election.
He also said that the committee, comprising party leaders including Damodar Rajanarasimha, D Sridhar Babu, K Satyanrayana and B Rajender Reddy, would submit its report to the party high command on September 10.
While the Congress has only just begun its search for a candidate for the recently-vacated Huzurabad seat, the TRS had
announced its candidate weeks ago.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who had finalised the name of the TRS nominee for the by-election on August 11, had picked Gellu Srinivas Yadav, a 38-year-old leader from the BC community, as the party's candidate.
