Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, who represents the Bhongir Lok Sabha constituency, today criticised Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay for the latter's "careless remarks" regarding the BJP's loss in the Jubilee Hills by-election.
He said that it had become a pattern for Bandi Sanjay to overlook his responsibilities as a Union minister when he spoke.
In a statement, the Congress MP condemned Sanjay's comment suggesting that all Hindus, regardless of their political affiliation, should align themselves with the BJP.
"Bandi Sanjay is creating conflicts between castes and between religions. It is high time that he set aside issues of caste and religion, and spoke about development," he said.
Reddy said that Congress candidate Naveen Yadav did not win the Jubilee Hills by-election solely with the votes of one caste or religion, and that people from all sections supported him.
The Congress MP said that on the contrary, the BJP had even lost its deposit in the by-election for the constituency which was part of the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency represented by Kishan Reddy, and that the BJP's vote share had decreased when compared to that in the Assembly elections.
"Bandi Sanjay must clarify to the people whether the BJP secretly supported the BRS. If he himself does not know whether the BJP supported the BRS or not, he should discuss it internally within the party," he said.
"Both Union ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay should also work to bring funds to Telangana. They should put pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to release funds to the State," he added.
The Congress MP also said that the Union government needed to cooperate on the Hyderabad Metro expansion, RRR and Musi Rejuvenation projects.
