Tollywood director Thrinatha Rao Nakkina today apologized to all those hurt by his remarks about actress Anshu Ambani.
In a video released on social media platforms, Nakkina, known best for the Ravi Teja starrer
Dhamaka that he directed, said that he understood that his words at the teaser launch event of his upcoming movie Mazaka on Sunday had hurt many women.
"These comments were accidental, made in a light-hearted manner to make the audience laugh. They were not intentional," he said.
He added that there were women in his own family, and asked all women including Anshu to forgive him for his remarks.
For the unversed, Nakkina had said that Anshu, who is most popular for her role in Nagarjuna's 2004 release
Manmadhudu, and who vanished for a couple of decades after that and is now making a comeback in this latest, had thinned beyond belief, and that he had asked her to put on some weight since the Telugu audiences preferred their heroines wholesome.
The comments were not received well on the Internet, and Nakkina faced backlash.
