The Telugu Nadu Students Front, on Thursday, demanded that the state government make its stand on the fee reimbursement scheme clear before finalising the dates for counseling for admission into engineering courses.
Talking to reporters near Raj Bhavan, where the TNSF organised a sit-in protest, TNSF president Anjanayulu Goud alleged that the government was trying to dilute the fee reimbursement scheme, and that the report of the cabinet sub-committee was a prelude to the proposed dilution.
He demanded that the government reject the recommendations made by the cabinet sub-committee on the issue. The TNSF president threatened that the Telugu Desam Party would launch agitations across the state if the government does not reject the recommendations.
The TNSF continued their sit-in protest for about half-an-hour. Later, they were taken into custody when they tried to barge into Raj Bhavan by breaking the security cordon. They were shifted to a nearby police station, and were later released on bail. (INN)
