Osmania University has secured a ranking in the recently released Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2017.
A total of 298 higher education institutes from 25 countries participated in the rankings, and of the 33 top academic institutions from India, Osmania University was ranked 22nd.
The rankings are based on the scores under various heads, which provide an insight into the institute's strengths and weaknesses.
Dr C Srinivasulu, Nodal Officer, Statistical Cell, OU, said that Osmania University scored well in research with respect to volume, income and reputation. The quality of research publications as reflected by citations and teachers strength needed to be further improved, however, he said.
Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Dr S Ramachandram congratulated the faculty, staff and students on their dedication and commitment that resulted in Osmania University being ranked among the top class academic institutions in India.
He said that in the future, too, Osmania University would continue to do well and scale new academic heights.
