The Hyderabad police arrested three persons for possession of counterfeit currency notes.
The Hyderabad police today apprehended three persons and seized large amounts of counterfeit currency.
The police arrested three persons named Mohammed Ghouse, Shareeful Shaik and Jahanara Bibi, and seized counterfeit cash worth Rs. 11,95,000 in Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 denominations.
The police said that Ghouse was involved in counterfeit currency cases under the limits of the Monda Market, Gopalapuram, Kanchanbagh, Shahalibanda, Kalapathar, Bhavaninagar, Chandrayangutta, Mirchowk and Falaknuma police stations. He was recently released from jail and had revived his contacts with his partners in crime in the Malda district of West Bengal.
Around 10 days ago, he had contacted one of his old suppliers named Babloo Shaik, also known as Babloo of Malda, and ordered fake Indian currency. Subsequently on September 7 Babloo sent fake currency worth Rs. 12 lakhs through his mother Jahanara Bibi and his brother-in-law Shareeful Shaik from Malda to Hyderabad, to be handed over to Ghouse.
Today at 8 pm Ghouse met Shaik and Bibi at Charminar to collect the fake currency. The South Zone Task Force, who have been tracking Ghouse for long, caught them red-handed with Rs. 11,95,000 of fake currency notes, with the assistance of the Charminar PS.
Shaik, who is the prime accused in the case, was arrested. The accused and the seized property were handed over to the SHO of the Charminar PS.
"The seized fake currency has been created skillfully and cannot be identified that easily even by professionals," the Charminar police said.
The arrests were made under the supervision of additional Deputy Commissioner of Police N Koti Reddy of the Commissioner's Task Force, Inspector of Police in the South Zone Task Force A Yadagiri, Inspector of Police in the Charminar PS K Chandra Sekhar Reddy, and SIs N Srishylam, B Madhusudhan and G Mallesh, with the assistance of the police staff.
