Exhorting people not to trust middlemen who claimed to be able to get them allotment of a free double bedroom house for money, Telangana IT minister K T Rama Rao asked the people to thrash such persons.
The minister toured Mahabubnagar district on Tuesday and inspected the construction of the double bedroom houses at Divitipally village. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the construction of the double bedroom houses was going on in a big way in Telangana. It was unfortunate that the Opposition parties were criticizing the scheme though it was a good one, he said.
KTR pointed out that the previous Congress government had constructed single room houses and painted them in the party's three colors. However, the TRS and his father K Chandrashekar Rao treated government housing as standing for the "self-respect of the poor", he claimed.
He also said that the state government had undertaken several other developmental activities in the last 33 months in the same spirit of upholding the respect of the poor, including extending Rs 75,000 under the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme to poor families for the weddings of their daughters.
Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, MLA Srinivas Goud and MP Jithender Reddy accompanied KTR.
