Reacting to the call of Telangana IT Minister K T Rama Rao to the people to beat with "chappals" anyone demanding a bribe for the sanction of a double bedroom house, AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao asked the former what should be done if a leader failed to keep his promises.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday along with Ponnala Lakshmaiah, VHR called upon the people to beat leaders who fail to keep their promises, with chappals, too.
Ponnala alleged that the state government was purchasing power at a high price from Chattisgarh costing the exchequer Rs 1,000 crores. He also alleged that the state government had entered an MoU with the Chattisgarh government without consulting experts.
Stating that open bidding would take only 90 days, he said that it was incorrect for the state government to say that it had entered an MoU only to get power early.
He demanded that the state government cancel the agreement with Chattisgarh.
