Following an alert by the Intelligence Bureau, the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police on Wednesday intensified security measures across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad and other areas in the GHMC limits.
Requesting people not to panic, Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that elaborate security arrangements were being made to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
He said that all shopping malls, cinema halls, public and tourist places, railway stations and bus stations have been put on high alert.
He added that about 600 CC cameras have been arranged with the help of shopping malls.
It may be mentioned that the Intelligence Bureau has issued a warning about possible attacks on the eve of Sivaratri.
Police checks and frisking operations have also been intensified. Pickets have been deployed at all sensitive locations. As a precaution, the markets of Begum Bazar, Nampally, Abids and Koti were closed from 4pm. (INN)
