High Alert In Telangana, Andhra Pradesh For R-Day
The alert follows the Intelligence Bureau's warning that terror groups including the SIMI and the IM might activate their splinter cells in the city.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have been put on high alert on the eve of Republic Day on Thursday, following the Intelligence Bureau's (IB) suspicion of credible threat from a few terrorist groups.
The IB warned that there was a possibility of SIMI and Indian Mujahideen (IM) groups activating their respective sleeper cells. Following the IB alert, the Police of both the States beefed up security and all necessary precautions reportedly have been taken for Republic Day celebrations.
The alert was also passed on to the Shamshabad international airport, and air passengers of international and domestic flights were asked to report at the airport two hours before departure of the plane. Passengers and their escorts are being checked alike by security personnel.
Following the advisory, City Police Commissioner appealed to the general public not to carry hand bags, briefcases, cameras, tiffin boxes or other containers while proceeding to the Parade Grounds. All such persons will be thoroughly frisked as a precautionary measure.
