Tension In OU As Police Obstruct 5K Run

Mild tension prevailed when the police obstructed a 5K run being organised by the AISF students in the Osmania University on Monday.
The run was aimed at urging the campus students to make the proposed beef festival on December 10 at the University Arts College a success.
The run started from the Arts College and proceeded towards the NCC Gate. But the police obstructed the run soon after it started.
The police and students then started jostling, leading to mild tension. Later the police arrested several students and shifted them to a police station.
Speaking on this occasion, the student leaders pledged that they would conduct the festival at any cost facing any sort of hurdles. They raised slogans against the "communal forces". The police arranged pickets and deployed a huge force to handle any eventualities.
On the other hand, the ABVP students' union has given a call for a "Chalo OU" on December 9 against the beef festival.
