Congress workers trying to stall Babu's padayatra due to his stance on a separate Telangana clashed with TDP workers who were making arrangements to welcome him at Keesara in Kanchikacherla mandal.
Workers of both the parties had a heated discussion, and in the charged up atmosphere, D S P Chennaiah was injured, and mild tension prevailed.
Thousands of workers went to Garikapadu, where Chandrababu Naidu would enter the region, and police made elaborate arrangements to maintain the law and order situation.
Meanwhile, Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal created commotion by marching into Anumanchipalli with his supporters, and Congress MLA Jogi Ramesh was stopped by police at the Keesara toll-gate as he along with his followers were going to stall Chandrababu Naidu from entering Krishna district.
Police lathicharged the workers and dispelled them amidst mounting tension.
Rajgopal took refuge in Devineni Avinash's residence at Anumanchipalli village. Avinash was later arrested by police. The prelude to Naidu's entry into Krishna district had been filled with tension and drama. (INN)
