Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao today said that in the new Secretariat, a temple, two mosques and a church would be constructed at government cost.
He also said that after the end of the upcoming Assembly session, foundation stones would be laid for all the places of worship on the same day, and that construction works would be launched and completed on a fast note.
The CM announced this at a meeting with some elders of the Muslim community at Pragathi Bhavan.
It was decided to construct the temple and two mosques to make up for the ones damaged while demolishing the old secretariat buildings.
The government will construct two mosques, each of area 750 square feet, as also quarters for an Imam.
The new mosques would be constructed at the same locations where they were in the old Secretariat, the CM said.
After the construction, the mosques will be handed over to the state Wakf Board.
The temple will also be constructed in an area of 1,500 square feet, and after construction be handed over to the endowments department.
Since there was a demand from the Christian community that they too should have a place of worship in the new Secretariat, the government will construct a church, too.
The government had also decided to set up an Islamic centre in Hyderabad of international standards, and a piece of land had been allocated for the purpose, KCR said. There was some delay in the construction due to the coronavirus, he added.
He also said that at several places in the city 150 to 200 Khabrastans would be created.
He also said that due to the widening of roads in Narayanpet an Asurkhana there was damaged, and that instructions had been given to the Collector concerned to identify land and construct another Asurkhana.
Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, All India Muslim Personal Law Board member Moulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed and others participated.
