Congress Seeks Judicial Inquiry Into Demolition Of Mosques

The party is unwilling to let go.
Hyderabad | 6th September 2020
AICC member and the official spokesperson of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee G Niranjan today said that the construction of a temple and two mosques at the same locations where the previous ones existed in the Secretariat premises before they were demolished, was not sufficient.

He said that CM K Chandrashekar Rao cannot shirk his responsibility by pacifying some people, and demanded that the CM order a judicial inquiry into the circumstances that led to the demolition of the religious places in the first place, and ascertain the guilty and punish them accordingly.

He said that the explanation given by KCR during the meeting with a delegation of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board was not reliable, and was intended to suppress the facts.

"Though the places of worship are in the Secretariat, the government cannot demolish them as it wants without respecting the religious sentiments of the people. If any private individual causes any damage, he will be punished without any excuse. Is the law different for the general public and the government, then?" Niranjan asked.

He said that the version of KCR that the Nalla Pochamma temple and the two mosques had been damaged due to the falling of debris on them from the nearby buildings being demolished lacked credibility as all these three places of worship had been dismantled on the very first day of the demolition, and also since it was impossible for all the three places to have been demolished due to the same reason at the same time.

Targeting MIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi, he said that the Hyderabad MP was just trying to please the CM and being selfish.
