Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Sunday stated that the party would organize 'Rythukosam' on December 30th at Guntur in which farmers will be invited to participate on a mass scale.
Talking to media persons after a meeting to decide on the course of action to be adopted by the party over the Justice Srikrishna Report and the farmers' issues, Janardhan Reddy revealed that the 'Rythukosam' would be an attempt to build consensus among all political parties on taking a delegation to New Delhi, and pressurize the government into announcing an adequate relief package for rain-hit farmers.
The senior TDP leader said that the 'Rythukosam' would focus entirely on farmers and the issues they faced. The TDP leader also expressed his anger over the comments made by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that not all suicides by farmers could be attributed to crop losses, and said that the words had ignited a wave of anger among the people.
Janardhan Reddy, the TDP's frontman for Telangana, said that Sunday's meeting also discussed the future strategy on the separate statehood issue after the Justice B N Srikrishna Commission submitted its report by December 31st.
He revealed that a unanimous decision was taken at today's meeting to convene another meeting on December 31st after the submission of commission report.
Janardhan Reddy added that TDP would be happy if the centre announced a Telangana state, and he promised to continue agitations if the bifurcation demand was not met.
TDP leaders Kadiyam Srihari, M Narasimhulu and M Venkateswara Rao participated in the meeting.
