The TDP slammed KCR for the rising number of farmer suicides in the State, and asked him to compensate farmers for crops lost during the recent rains.

The Telangana TDP today demanded the State government extend Rs. 40,000 per acre to chilli farmers and Rs. 30,000 per acre each to corn, cotton and soy farmers as compensation for crops lost to the recent heavy rains in the State, and blamed the increasing number of farmer suicides on the TRS government.
Speaking to the media at the NTR Trust Bhavan on Saturday, TDP leaders A Revanth Reddy, Ravula Chandrashekar Reddy and Sathyam questioned the TRS government on its 'reluctance" to waive crop loans at a single go. Earlier, sixteen chief ministers of united AP together had brought Rs. 60,000 crores worth debt on the State's treasury, while KCR alone had brought more than 1 lakh crores worth debt within two and half years of his tenure.
"The government ought to pay compensation for the crop loss. The Kharif crop loss compensation is yet to be paid. KCR claims that his officials have submitted reports on crop loss. How is this possible without actually examining the field? 2,700 farmers in this State have committed suicide in the last two years. The number will rise if they do not do something to mitigate the situation," they said.
