The Telangana government will adopt the "green book system", a software program that connects to the GPS or RFID, to supervise greenery in all industrial areas in the State.
According to Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao, a third of the industrial areas in the State would be earmarked for tree plantation via the program. The system will let all industrial units upload the number of trees planted in their premises using geomapping. The trees will then be supervised using the geofence system. Additionally, all the industrial areas will be surveyed through a photogrammetic method.
"The survey will be conducted during all the seasons," KTR said.
The minister was speaking after planting saplings at various industrial parks in Muppireddy Palli village of the Medak district as part of the green drive Telanganaku Haritha Haram along with Principal Secretary (Industries) Arvind Kumar, Commissioner Of Industries Manick Raj, Managing Director of TSIIC E V Narasimha Reddy and other officials.
KTR also asked industry to take up the Haritha Haram flagship program seriously. The State's ministry for industries & commerce had decided to plant around 42 lakh saplings throughout the State, of which 32 lakh saplings would be planted by the Commissioner Of Industries while 10.74 lakh saplings would be planted in the 176 industrial parks across the State, he said, and added that the contribution of industry to the effort would greatly increase its impact.
He asked industrial units to adopt block plantations wherein the unit/business could use its name and logo for promotion.
Rao said that the pollution levels caused by industrial emissions could be brought down drastically through the green drive, and so it was the duty of the industrial units to participate in it.
