Telangana To Launch New Health Scheme For Women On March 8
The State government will be launching another scheme for women, Arogya Mahila, on March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The State government will be launching another scheme for women, Arogya Mahila, on March 8, on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Under the scheme, women can undergo various diagnostic tests free of cost at 100 health centres across the State every Tuesday.
Later, the scheme will be extended to 1,200 primary health centres, basti dawakanas and other hospitals in the State.
A high-level meeting headed by Health Minister T Harish Rao and Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao at BRKR Bhavan on Saturday discussed the scheme. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Health Secretary Rizvi, Family Welfare Secretary Swetha Mohanty and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that the State government had decided to launch the new scheme upon the direction of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and directed officials to take steps to involve all elected representatives in their respective areas on the day of the launch.
"Many poor women are suffering from blood pressure, diabeties, cancer, thyroid, nutritional deficieny, gynecological disorders and other ailments. Under the scheme, diagnostic tests will be done free of cost for women on every Tuesday, and counselling will be given to them. The health department is also setting up separate help desks for women at all government referral hospitals in the State," Harish Rao said.
