Somesh Kumar Holds Meeting On Flood Relief

Telangana Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today held a teleconference with the Collectors and police Superintendents of 16 flood affected districts of the state and took stock of the prevailing situation in the districts as well.
He instructed the officials to take "immediate relief and rescue measures" to prevent any loss of life and damage to property.
Kumar then directed the Collectors to remain vigilant and monitor the situation closely, and added, "Control rooms should be set up in all the districts. People residing in low lying areas should be evacuated if needed. All the departments should work in close coordination to ensure that there are no breaches of water bodies. The priority currently is to ensure the availability of drinking water, power and sanitation facilities. The government is ready to provide all the assistance needed for these steps. DGP M Mahender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) Rajat Kumar, Lt Colonel Kamaldeep, DG Fire Services S K Jain, Secretary (PR & RD) Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Special Secretary (Disaster Management) Rahul Bojja, and E-in-C Muralidhar Rao were among the officials who were present for the virtual meeting.
The directives come after Hyderabad unit of the Indian Metrological Department issued orange and red alerts, predicting torrential downpours, in various parts of the state.
