Union Joint Secretary Urban Development Sameer Sharma today reviewed the progress of the Warangal Smart City project and said that the idea behind the project was to create the best possible infrastructure to facilitate urban expansion and better living standards.
Sameer Sharma held a meeting with Telangana government's Municipal Administration and Urban Department officials and reviewed the progress of the Warangal Smart City project. He said that the focus ought to be on resource mobilization by converging and integrating various other schemes. Sharma also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was reviewing the progress of the smart cities regularly.
Warangal Municipal Commissioner Shruti Ojha gave a presentation on the various projects and facilities proposed under the smart city project. She said that Bhadrakali lake development was being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 crores. The priority was on developing liveable neighborhoods, sanitation, smart mobility, green urbanization, and systems integration.
Sharma asked the Commissioner to ensure that certain milestones in the Warangal Smart City Project were achieved by June 25 this year. He also stressed on promoting solar energy as an alternate source of power for the city.
