Due to low occupancy, the owners of single screen theatres in Telangana have decided to close their theatres for ten days from Friday.
Due to the recent Lok Sabha elections and other reasons, no big films have released recently, and the audience coming to the cinema halls has decreased significantly.
The theatre owners' association said that the situation was worse in towns and mandals as compared to cities, and that operating the theatres had become very burdensome. Even the maintenance costs were not getting recouped, the association lamented.
With this, the association has taken the decision that screenings will be stopped from Friday.
