The Telangana government in Assembly said that it planned to establish a mega leather park of an extent of 117 acres in Station Ghanpur village of the Warangal district at an estimated cost of Rs. 270 crores.
A DPR detailing the same was sent to the Central government for approval, said Minister K T Rama Rao.
Rao said that while submitting the proposal to the Union government's Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion for getting a sanction for the same, it also sought a Central assistance of Rs. 105 crores.
KTR also said that although nine mini-leather parks had come up in different parts of the State during the previous Congress and TDP regimes, they were not up to the mark. Thus, once the Mega Leather Park came up in Station Ghanpur, the 9 parks would be affiliated to it, he added.
"Once the mega park comes up, it would create job opportunities for around 20,000 aspirants," he said and added that the project would be completed in two years, if it got approved.
