Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy today said that the schools and colleges in the state would recommence their on-site classes from February 1.
(Classes for students of grades nine and upwards, and engineering, degree and post graduation final year students will begin on February 1. The decision to start on-site classes for other students will be taken later.)
Reddy visited a school in Kollapur, in Nagarkurnool district, and inspected the arrangements for the reopening.
Speaking on the occasion, she reassured the parents of the students in the state that that there was no need for them to worry about sending their wards for classes amidst the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic as the authorities of all the educational institutions, under the supervision of the TRS government, had sanitised the premises of the institutions to prevent, as far as possible, the spread of the disease.
"Parents should not worry about sending their children for classes during the ongoing pandemic. The government has ensured that the administrative bodies of the state's educational institutions adhere strictly to the required Covid-19 safety protocols. The district Collectors of the state were asked to personally monitor the arrangements for the same," she said.
"In fact, all the schools and colleges will be enforcing stringent social distancing measures within the classrooms as well. Only 20 students will be allowed in each classroom, and they will be required to maintain a distance of six feet between them. Mask-wearing and regular hand sanitisation will also be practiced. Each institution also has access to clean water, an isolation room, and sanitation facilities," the minister added.
Ever since Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced that the educational institutions of the state would reopen in February, the state government's officials have left no stone unturned to ensure that this be done in keeping with all the required Covid-19 safety guidelines - Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy even held
multiple meetings to oversee the preparations for the reopening.
