Tension prevailed at Vidyuth Soudha for several hours on Monday, after employees from Telangana and Seemandhra almost clashed with each other while shouting slogans in favour of and against Telangana, respectively.
The situation turned worse when TRS MLA T Harish Rao was taken into custody by the police when he tried to enter the Vidyuth Soudha to express solidarity with the Telangana employees.
Harish Rao alleged that the police have failed to give protection to Telangana employees who are being physically assaulted in the Seemandhra region. Citing an instance, he said that a district-level officer was attacked in Nellore. He also alleged that employees and students from Telangana region are being subjected to physical and mental harassment. He said that no employee or individual from the Seemandhra region was ever attacked during the Telangana agitation.
Meanwhile, TRS activists entered into a heated argument with the police officials when they took Harish Rao and other leaders into custody. (INN)
