Hyderabad | 8th September 2013
As many as 366 people were taken into preventive custody in different places of city, for trying to take out rallies towards L B Stadium to disrupt the APNGOs' meet.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that 35,000 to 40,000 employees from Andhra, Rayalaseema and Hyderabad city attended the APNGOs meeting on Saturday.

In protest against the meeting, TJAC and pro-Telangana organizations observed a bandh in Hyderabad. City RTC buses did not ply on the roads, and most schools declared a holiday in view of the Telangana bandh.

Elaborate bandobust arrangements were made, and strong pickets were posted at all important government institutions.

There were attempts at pro-Telangana protests. The students of Osmania University tried to come out from the OU campus to proceed towards L B Stadium in a rally. Since prohibitory orders are in force, police personnel prevented them at AMS Kaman, upon which students pelted stones on police parties at AMS Kaman.

Telangana agitators took out 8 rallies, and forcibly tried to shut down business establishments in 19 localities. Further, there was a rasta Roko at one place, stone-pelting at another, effigy-burning at six places, dharnas at four places, and other protests at 12 places.

Police took 366 agitators into preventive custody, at various places in the city's 4 zones - Central Zone (147 persons), East Zone (94), West Zone (39) and North Zone (86). (INN)
