The decision of the RTC employees to resume work after withdrawing their strike led to violent scenes at different depots in the State on Tuesday.
Hyderabad | 26th November 2019
The decision of the RTC employees to resume work after withdrawing their strike led to violent scenes at different depots in the State on Tuesday.

The employees were not allowed by the police to re-enter their offices / depots. This led to angry exchanges of words between the police and the workers.

Sensing trouble from the workers, the police enforced prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC at some places, like the Nalgonda bus depot.

At some other places, the police also arrested protesting RTC workers to avoid untoward incidents. For example, woman workers trying to resume their duties at Sangareddy were taken into custody and rushed to the nearby police station. Their pleas to allow them to have talks with the depot managers didn't have any impact on the police.

The police also took the RTC workers from undivided Mahbubnagar district into custody.

As a precautionary measure, the police also arrested the union leaders of different districts to avoid any untoward incidents at the depots. The arrests of the union leaders began on Monday night and continued till the early hours of Tuesday.
