Resignations A Conspiracy: Raghuveera
Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy said that the resignations for Telangana were part of a conspiracy by vested elements who want to destabilise the Congress government.
Hinting that the mass resignations were part of a conspiracy by vested elements who want to destabilise the Congress government in the state, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday said that the separate statehood issue could have been solved through dialogue.
Talking to media persons after a review of the works of his Department, in Vijayawada, Raghuveera Reddy alleged that Congress legislators from Telangana had fallen into a trap set by these 'vested elements", who he said want to destabilise the government.
"The separate Telangana statehood demand could be solved through dialogue and consultations. There is no reason for the legislators to resort to submitting their resignations en masse to mount pressure on the Centre," the Revenue Minister said.
"Any problem can be solved only through dialogue and not through coercive measures," he added.
The Minister continued, "The Telangana issue cannot be solved by the Congress party alone, as any decision it has to take would have to have the support of all its alliance partners and the political parties in the state."
Raghuveera Reddy further alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress Party have hatched a conspiracy to weaken the Congress in the state and to derive mileage on the resignations.
He, however, expressed confidence that these parties do not have the strength to destabilise the government.
"Except for creating problems for the people and for the government in implementing the schemes, these parties will not be able to pull down the government," Raghuveera Reddy said.
He also urged the Congress legislators to withdraw their resignations. (INN)
