In an attempt to encourage more people to undergo Covid-19 tests to contain the spread of the disease, the Telangana government today reduced the charges for such tests.
The government decreased the Reverse Transcription - Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test charges from Rs 850 to Rs 500, and decreased the prices for home-testing facilities from Rs 1,200 to Rs 750.
It then instructed both government and private hospitals and labs to strictly follow the revised testing prices, and warned them that any violators would be dealt with seriously.
Health officials in all the districts were also told to monitor all testing facilities to ensure that they were implementing the new charges.
