The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee will organise a Peace Rally on September 7, which is to coincide with the public meeting being planned by the Seemandhra leaders at L B Stadium.
Addressing reporters after the TPJAC's steering committee meeting at TNGOs Bhavan here on Tuesday, TPJAC chairman Prof. M Kodandaram said that the Peace Rally would start from City College in Old City, and culminate into a massive public meeting at Indira Park. He also announced that the week from September 1 to 7 would be observed as "Mulki Week".
Kodandaram demanded that the Congress-led UPA government take steps to immediately implement the decision taken by the Congress Working Committee and the UPA Coordination Committee to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and carve out the Telangana state. He said that the Centre should introduce the Telangana Bill in the ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament. He added that any delay in this regard should be avoided by the Centre.
The TPJAC chief accused Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and DGP V Dinesh Reddy of being biased against Telangana people and leaders. He said that the Chief Minister and the DGP should discharge their duties impartially without being inclined towards the Samaikyandhra activists.
Stating that the TPJAC would submit a memorandum to Governor E S L Narasimhan regarding the Chief Minister's impartial attitude, he demanded that the DGP ensures security for Telangana employees working in the Seemandhra region.
Kondandaram also alleged that a section of media is biased against the people of Telangana and was projecting them in bad light. Citing an instance, he said that a few news channels had reported about Telangana employees attacking Seemandhra staff at Vidhyut Soudha on Monday. He claimed that in reality, nothing of the sort had happened, and that a watchman from Telangana region was attacked by some Seemandhra employees. (INN)
