Police Quizzed On Facilities For Fasting Muslim Prisoners
The police said that steps had been taken to provide meals both at the time of saheri and at the time of iftar to Muslim prisoners fasting for Ramzan.

Telangana State Minorities Commission (TSMC) Chairman Mohammed Qamaruddin today discussed over the phone with the DGP (Prisons), Telangana, the actions being taken to provide facilities to the Muslim prisoners observing fast during the month of Ramzan in the state and district jails.
Responding to it Rajiv Trivedi, IPS, the DGP (Prisons), informed Qamaruddin that the necessary steps had been taken to provide meals both at the time of saheri and at the time of iftar to Muslim prisoners observing the religious fast.
The meals were being prepared by the non-Muslim cooks at 1 am and being served to the muslim prisoners at Saheri time, Trivedi said.
He further stated that fruits were being provided at the time of iftar, and that the necessary arrangements were also being made for offering the prisoners to offer Namaz and Taraweeh prayers while maintaining social distance.
Superintendent of the Chanchalguda central prison Srinivas said that there were 600 Muslims prisoners in the jail, and that of them 360 were fasting.
Superintendent of the Cherlapally jail Sampath likewise said that there were 371 Muslim prisoners in the jail of whom 144 were observing the Ramzan fast.
Deputy Superintendent of the Warangal jail Kalidas Darla similarly said that there were 50 Muslim prisoners in the jail of whom 45 were observing the fast.
Superintendent of the women's jail in the Chanchalguda prison complex Lakshmi Srinadh said that there were 27 Muslim women prisoners in the jail, of whom 24 were fasting.
