Telangana BJP leaders on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Director General of Police claiming that thousands of Rohingya Muslims were living illegally in the state capital as well as in all other parts of the state.
They also stated these infiltrators had secured Aadhaar cards, voter ID cards and ration cards, and were even drawing pension under various welfare schemes of the state government.
They said that though non-Indians securing such cards was a grave matter, the state government had not taken the issue seriously for reasons best known to it.
They added that some of these illegal immigrants could come under the influence of anti-national forces including the ISI and Al-Qaeda, and carry out operations to disrupt the peace and progress of the country. The Rohingyas' illegal stay was thus inextricably linked to the safety and security of the nation, the leaders claimed.
The leaders also informed the DGP that they had submitted many memoranda to the police over the past several years explaining how Hyderabad and rest of the state had become safe havens for the Rohingya Muslims. They also pointed out that in the recent past over 127 people had secured Aadhaar cards by producing fake documents, that 124 of them were Rohingyas.
The leaders demanded that the police chief order a comprehensive probe deputing honest and dedicated officers to weed out all the illegal immigrants in all the districts.
Signatories to the memorandum were State BJP president Dr K Laxman, Hyderabad BJP president and MLC N Ramchander Rao, and city BJP general secretaries T Rajashekhar Reddy, N Goutham Rao, Atluri Ramakrishna, Ale Jithender, Raman Goud and Venkata Ramana.
