Expressing anger over the decision of the Osmania University Vice Chancellor Professor Ravinder Yadav to decline permission for a public meeting by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the university premises, activists of the NSUI today held a protest in front of the VC's chamber.
The protestors wore bangles and raised slogans against the VC.
Speaking on the occasion, NSUI State president Balmuri Venkat alleged that the VC had declined permission for the meeting under pressure from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, and that the latter was scared that the Congress would come to power after the next Assembly elections.
Terming the act of the TRS government as cowardice, the activists burnt a portrait of KCR on the occasion.
The police later arrested Venkat and other activists.
