Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde informed on Thursday that the cabinet note on Telangana is ready, but is yet to be signed.
Shinde's statement came amidst speculations that the cabinet note will be discussed during the Union Cabinet's meeting this evening. Shinde said, "The A K Antony Committee is yet to submit its report. Therefore, it has not been decided whether to circulate the note during the cabinet meeting or not."
However, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh claimed that the Telangana note would go to the cabinet. Sources say that since the Telangana note is not on the cabinet meeting agenda, it may be placed as a table item, which may be taken up by the cabinet (on the spot) after it is flagged as important by a minister or ministers.
Once the Telangana Note gets the approval of the Union Cabinet, the Centre will constitute a Group of Ministers to look into the entire gamut of issues that will arise out of the bifurcation, including the sharing of resources. (INN)
