The new state will comprise 10 districts, and Hyderabad will be the common capital for Telangana and the residual state of Andhra Pradesh for a period not exceeding 10 years.
On Thursday night, the Union Cabinet cleared the Bill for the formation of a Telangana state.
The new state will comprise 10 districts, and Hyderabad will be the common capital for Telangana and the residual state of Andhra Pradesh for a period not exceeding 10 years. Both the states will get special status under Article 371 (D), for equitable opportunities.
"We want the bill to be tabled in the winter session of the Parliament," Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde told media persons after the Cabinet meeting. (INN)
