Several activists of the Samaikhya Andhra Parirakshnana Samithi were taken into custody at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, when they tried to hold a protest demanding that the Centre keep the state united.
Samithi founder G Kumar Chowdhary Yadav and other leaders had earlier announced that they would launch a 72-hour Deeksha to show their support for a united Andhra Pradesh. However, the police had not permitted the Deekhsha.
Defying police orders, the Samaikyandhra activists assembled at Indira Park and tried to hold their protest. Foiling their effort, the police took them into custody and shifted them to a nearby police station. (INN)
