Division Of AP Will Damage Cong: MLA

Kamalapuram Congress MLA Veerashiva Reddy says that the Congress would be making a mistake by supporting the formation of a Telangana state.

Kamalapuram Congress MLA Veerashiva Reddy, who resigned in protest against the impending bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday said that the Congress would win at least 20 Lok Sabha seats if it keeps Andhra Pradesh united.

Talking to reporters in Kadapa, Veerashiva Reddy said that the Congress would be making a mistake if it decides to support the formation of s Telangana state.

He said that the division of state would cause immense damage to the Congress, besides "other problems".

Opposing the proposal of a "Rayala Telangana", he said that no political group is empowered to divide the Rayalaseema region.

Veerashiva Reddy also warned Seemandhra MPs and ministers of strong protests by the people in their own constituencies in case they do not oppose the bifurcation of the state. (INN)
