Rayalaseema Leaders To Approach Court Against Telangana
Rayalaseema leaders plan to approach the High Court or the Supreme Court in order to file a PIL against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.
Congress leaders from Rayalaseema, on Wednesday, threatened to move the court against the decision of the Congress-led UPA government to create Telangana by bifurcating Andhra Pradesh.
Talking to reporters after having a meeting with ministers and legislators from Rayalaseema region, ministers T G Venkatesh, Erasu Pratap Reddy and S M Ahmadullah said that they might file a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) in the High Court or the Supreme Court against the state's proposed division.
Stating that they were still in favour of a united Andhra Pradesh, they said that efforts will also be made to defeat the Telangana Bill in the State Legislative Assembly and in the Parliament.
Venkatesh complained that the Rayalaseema region had always been subjected to injustice. Citing an example, he said that the state of Telangana was given Hyderabad while Polavaram Project in Andhra was declared a national project. "What about our region? It got nothing," he said. (INN)
