The cheque distribution event for Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak today in the Vadiyaram village of Siddipet district, attended by State Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, caused a significant disturbance.
Local BRS MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy openly criticised the ruling party leaders and officials for "not adhering to protocol norms" during the event.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the officials who invited Congress leader Srinivas Reddy to the stage.
He called that a violation of protocol, and accused the officials of granting undue prominence to Congress leaders despite the fact that they did not hold any constitutional positions.
The BRS MLA asked Surekha regarding the justification for allowing Srinivas Reddy, who had lost in the Assembly elections, a place on the stage.
Prabhakar Reddy commented that petty politics should be avoided and that protocol should be followed.
His comments created anger among the Congress cadre, leading to a ruckus at the meeting. As a result, the program saw an exchange of competing slogans between the ruling party and the opposition BRS cadres. Despite Surekha's attempts to calm things down, the two groups continued to clash. The police intervened and controlled the situation.
