Ghulam Nabi Azad, the In-charge of Congress Affairs in Andhra Pradesh, who is also the Union Health Minister, will visit Hyderabad on Sunday.
Sources say that Azad is likely to hold discussions with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, and other leaders from Telangana and Rayalaseema.
However, the Congress is trying to project Azad's visit as a low-profile event.
Currently, Botsa is in New Delhi, and he will return to the state capital by Sunday afternoon to hold discussions with Azad.
According to a senior Congress leader, Azad has already played his part in the Telangana issue.
"He has already submitted his report on Telangana to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and the same has been discussed by the Congress Core Committee. Therefore, Azad's visit is not so relevant now," the senior leader said.
However, Congress leaders from the Telangana region say that Azad will still play a crucial role till the Congress party and the UPA government announces their decision on Telangana.
A few leaders are also planning to hold protests and submit their resignations from the party during Azad's visit.
Azad's itinerary is being kept under wraps, in view of the volatile situation in the state. (INN)
