Congress leader and Advisor to the Telangana government Shabbir Ali today appealed to Congress workers to stay united and ensure the success of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge's upcoming Hyderabad meeting to guide party members in defending the Indian Constitution.
As part of the mobilisation drive, a preparatory meeting was held at the EVM Function Hall in Nizamabad town, attended by Congress leaders from the Nizamabad and Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituencies. District in-charge minister D Seethakka and Zahirabad MP Suresh Shetkar were the chief guests.
Addressing the gathering, Shabbir Ali stressed the need to intensify the "Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan" campaign nationwide to protect constitutional values. He said that the Congress had always worked to unite communities and promote harmony while safeguarding democratic institutions, and that the Kharge meeting was another effort towards that goal.
He criticised the BJP for ignoring non-BJP-ruled States and accused it of claiming credit for welfare schemes including the fine rice distribution in Telangana while failing to implement similar measures in the States it ruled itself. He also accused the BJP of focusing on destabilising governments instead of prioritising development.
Shabbir Ali also urged the party's workers to strengthen the party at all levels and prepare for upcoming local and village elections.
