Telangana Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma today directed the officials of the concerned ministries to expedite the process of providing facilities and infrastructure to the Collectorates in the new districts by October 5.
The Chief Secretary held a high-level review meeting with the secretaries of all relevant departments of the government at the Secretariat today.
The meeting assumes significance as the officials were given a target to wind up the registration of the new staff to be accommodated in various departments, at the earliest.
According to information, the process of delimiting the districts is almost over as the final step, i. e. eliciting public opinion by September 20, has been initiated. The State government has asked the concerned departments to make necessary changes in the revenue divisions and mandals upon receiving suggestions and objections from the people.
Sharma said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was firm on carving out 17 new districts, making it a total of 27 districts which would provide more decentralization and transparency in governance and speedy services to the people. But the CM was open to making changes in the plan if the majority differed. The final call on the carving out of the districts, however, rested with the CM, Sharma added.
The concerned ministers and collectors are set to formally launch the new districts this Dussehra, on October 11.
