MP D K Aruna Joins Tribal Women In Dance
After paying floral tributes to a portrait of Sant Sevalal Maharaj, Aruna joined in traditional dances with the Adivasis.

In a celebration of Sant Sevalal Maharaj's 286th birth anniversary, Mahbubnagar MP D K Aruna today danced alongside tribal women.
The event, organized by the Mahbubnagar ST Morcha, saw Aruna paying floral tributes to a portrait of Sant Sevalal Maharaj before joining in traditional dances that resonated with the community's spirit.
Addressing the gathering, Aruna spoke of the enduring impact of Maharaj's work for the upliftment of the Girijan community. She said that his contributions had been instrumental in illuminating the lives of the Lambadi and Banjara people, both spiritually and socially.
She also spoke of her efforts in the Parliament advocating for national recognition of Maharaj's history. She mentioned discussions with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and plans to bring the matter to the attention of the Union Home Minister and the Prime Minister.
"We aim to ensure that the legacy of this great man is known throughout the country," she said.
She also said that the State had declared Maharaj's birth anniversary a public holiday, and announced plans to install his statue in Hyderabad, recognizing his role as a spiritual guru and social reformer for the Banjara community.
For the unversed, Sant Sevalal Maharaj, born on February 15, 1739, is revered for his efforts in transforming the lives of the Banjara community. He is said to have advocated for social reforms, promoted education, and worked against social evils, leaving an indelible mark on the community's history.
