Ministers Differ On Contract Workers Regularisation
Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao gave differing statements on the issue.
Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender made it clear that there was no proposal with the state government to regularize the services of outsourced employees.
Replying to a question raised by Congress MLA G Chinna Reddy and others during Question Hour in the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the Finance Minister informed that a committee of officers had been constituted to formulate the guidelines to consider the cases of eligible and deserving contract employees who had been serving the government for a long time.
However, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy differed with this, and while intervening on the issue, claimed that the TRS had never promised to regularize the services of contract workers. He said that the TRS had only promised to consider their demand for regularization.
In an immediate reaction, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao tried to offer a via media statement by stating that the TRS government was firm on its promise of regularizing contract employees although it would need some more time to fulfill the promise. (INN)
