After an alert issued by the intelligence department regarding the outbreak of violence during the upcoming Chalo Hyderabad march, the Hyderabad police have pulled up their straps. Intense checking has been initiated in neighbouring Telangana districts, to prevent supporters from joining the march.
A large number of personnel are being deployed from not only within Andhra Pradesh but also from the neighbouring states. Adding to this are central para-military forces including BSF, CRPF, CISF and RAF, who will help the Hyderabad police maintain order during the march. The personnel will be deployed at many places, including Osmania University, Tank Bund and Secretariat.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said that no permission has been given for the march, and warned of strict action against those who create law and order problems.
Police say that intensified checking will be on for 24 hours till September 30 to prevent supporters from entering Hyderabad from neighbouring Telangana districts such as Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Karimnagar.
Police had sent back dozens of students to Suryapet while they were on their way to Hyderabad for the march, in three buses. A large number of policewomen are also being deployed since the march will also see many women activists.
