The much-awaited Kaleshwaram-Sironcha bridge connecting Telangana with Maharashtra was launched on Friday.
Maharashtra Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao inaugurated the bridge constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 242 crores. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Telangana Roads & Buildings Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao and others attended the program. The works of the 1,620 meters long bridge started in 2011, and completed now.
The Centre provided Rs. 242 crores for completing the bridge that is set to improve connectivity between the two neighbouring States. The bridge was built on the Godavari river at Kaleshwaram.
The State government reportedly is planning to develop the new bridge into a tourist destination to attract visitors.
