Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan today alleged that Telangana had been liberated from autocratic rule and dictatorial tendencies.
Addressing the members of both the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council in a joint session of the Houses, the Governor said the people of Telangana had given a clear verdict to liberate themselves from ten years of repression in the recently concluded elections, and that their message was clear and loud.
"I appreciate the collective wisdom of the people. Telangana is breathing the fresh air of freedom and liberty now. The people unequivocally stated that they would not tolerate any repression. This verdict has become a cornerstone for civil rights and democratic rule. The iron barricades that divided the rulers from the people have been dismantled," Soundararajan said.
She said that true people's governance had begun now, and assured the people that their government was taking steps to give freedom, liberty, equal opportunities and social justice to them, along with coming within the reach of each and every citizen.
The Governor exuded confidence that Telangana would tread on the path of progress and bring light into the lives of farmers, women, youth and the poor in the days to come.
She added that the success of the Praja Vaani program had proved that the people could express their problems and get their grievances redressed by the government at any time.
The Governor also pointed out that within 48 hours of entering into governance, the current State government had implemented two of the six guarantees made by the party running it, and promised that rest of the guarantees would be implemented in the next 100 days.
