Former minister and BJP MLA Eatala Rajender today said that the address of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to the joint session of the Telangana legislature was nothing but a parroting of the claims of the ruling party leaders, and was full of lies and mistakes.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly media point, Rajender spoke about various aspects of the Governor's speech to buttress his claims.
Referring to the statement of the Governor that the State government was providing 24-hour power to the agricultural sector, he alleged that it was big lie and that power was not being supplied for more than six hours. He claimed that several farmers were in fact holding dharnas at electric transformers claiming that their standing crops were getting damaged due to non-supply of power.
He asked the State government why it was not providing electricity to farmers even after an increase in its power production capacity.
He also said that several farmers were planning to sell off their agriculture lands as they were not getting Rythu Bandhu benefits.
Rajender also claimed that the State government had built free double-bedroom houses in different towns with the funds of the union government, and that there was no way that the State government could build the double-bedroom houses anywhere in the State in its own budget. He said that the only double bedroom houses built by the State government from its own funds were in the Siddipet and Gajwel Assembly constituencies.
He also claimed that several farmers and unemployed youth continued to commit suicides in Telangana, and that several people had also committed suicides due to non-allotment of double-bedroom houses.
Rajender also pointed out that the Governor had not spoken about the Dharani portal in her speech, and that the government had done a lot of injustice in the name of the portal.
He alleged that the State government had made the Governor read out lies, and that the Governor had no option but to read the speech prepared by the State government (the Governor was a BJP leader).
Congress MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy described the Governor's address as factually incorrect and misleading.
"The Governor's address did not touch upon any problem being faced by the common people including the financial crisis, rising inflation, unemployment, agrarian crisis, neglect of the education and health sectors, deteriorating law & order and other issues," Reddy said.
He said that the Governor should have made the necessary amendments to the speech provided to her by the BRS government. However, she did not question or verify the statistics mentioned in her speech, and delivered a misleading speech before the legislature, he said.
