Demanding that he call off the proposed meeting of Seemandhra MPs scheduled to be held at his residence on March 5th, lawyers on Wednesday staged a dharna in front of Eluru MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao's house at Banjara Hills on Wednesday under the banner of Telangana Lawyers Joint Action Committee.
Raising 'Jai Telangana' slogans, about 50 lawyers tried to storm the MP's residence. They were demanding that Sambhasiva Rao cancel the meeting of Seemandhra leaders convened to draw up plans to intensify the 'integrated Andhra Pradesh' struggle.
However, the police foiled their plans and took protesting lawyers into custody. They were shifted to Punjagutta police station.
The lawyers told media persons that they had come to submit a letter to the MP urging him to cancel the Seemandhra MPs meeting. However, Sambhasiva Rao was not present in his residence when the lawyers staged the agitation.
The lawyers stated that they were not against Seemandhra people, but their only demand was the formation of a separate Telangana state.
The lawyers stated that they were against those who are opposing Telangana state formation. They warned Seemandhra businessmen of serious consequences if they did not cooperate with the Telangana state formation.
