Advocates of the Telangana High Court on Tuesday boycotted the court protesting the transfer of the senior-most judge Justice Sanjay Kumar as a junior judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court by the Supreme Court.
The Telangana High Court Bar Association also passed a unanimous resolution protesting the transfer of the judge.
Speaking on the occasion, the association expressed its anger over the decision of the Supreme Court to transfer Justice Sanjay Kumar, and demanded that it withdraw the order immediately. It said that the decision of the apex court amounted to humiliation of Telangana advocates and judges, and called the decision a political one.
They also demanded that the apex court immediately transfer Justice Sanjay Kumar back to the Telangana High Court, and retain him here until he was posted as a Chief Justice or Acting Chief Justice of a High Court in the country.
The association has decided to boycott work until Saturday, and to urge all advocates across Telangana to do the same.
